Baselworld is a universally recognized event for the watch and jewelry industry and it was celebrated last month, from 17th to 24th.

This showcase event is a point of reference for the sector, so there are many designers, buyers and press present at this exhibition. As it is a lounge open to general public, visitors don't need to register themselves before their arrival.

At this event, luxury firms present their news: new designs, new products, new creations... This year one of the most appealing news is the introduction of Chanel into the male public with its new piece: Monsieur de Chanel, which will be available online and in Chanel boutiques in June.

The development of this male 40mm watch with alligator strap took five years and it's a limited edition. Both case and crown are made of beige gold and the clock hands are also plated in the same color. The sphere is opaline ivory and it has a jumping hour window which emulates the octagonal Place Vendôme, a small second hand and a retrograde minutes counter.

This watch has been manufactured with Calibre 1, the first manual-winding mechanical movement for fine watches made in-house the Maison. It has 170 components, 30 rubies and its frequency is 28.800 A/h (4Hz).

This brand is aimed at female public, but they wanted to take a risk and created a new design dedicated to men, which offers a new vision of the allure of time, according to Chanel. However, Philippe Mougenot, president of Chanel Fine Jewelry & Watches has confirmed that this brand will keep mainly focused on female consumers.

Chanel has also used this event to introduce the new version of their masculine-looking model Boy·Friend, a watch especially designed for women but with a masculine appearance shown with the black alligator skin strap or the presence of steel from the case and bezel until the buckle. This contrasts with the feminism provided by its diamonds on the sphere and its elongated octagonal form.

The Boy·Friend watch is available in several sizes and two versions: white gold and beige gold. Its price varies from € 4,000 to €25,200.
